HAMILTON manufactures 2-pole and 4-pole conductivity sensors. 2-pole conductivity sensors are suited for measurements in clean solutions. contamination, e.g. by lime, will affect the measurement. 4-pole conductivity sensors consist of two current and two voltage electrodes. Between the two current electrodes there is a constant electric current. The two voltage electrodes measure a voltage drop across the measured sample, which depends on the conductivity of the sample. Because of this measuring principle, 4-pole sensors have a much broader linear measurement range and are not sensitive to contamination.
